Life and Lies and Love and Truth

A Poem by Deepshikha
"
...the wind whispered to me once...but I refuse to listen.
"

It’ll be forever if you take it,

But you’ll plummet to the ground.

And trees will Reveal their essence of life,

So the branches will die

And soon you’ll see the depth of the water,

That has me cold…darkalive.

I saw the light of the darkness,

And just once the wind whispered to me,

“The stormy waves quell all tears,

And the people will march away;

Life will be found in warm suns,

And glazed hearts on broken stones.

Love is cruel, this much I know…”

But I take no heed of her words,

Knowing pain and pain and pain,

Like the tears of the sawn in the dead of winter,

I’ll cry and cry and cry.

And the wind whispers once more,

But I refuse to hear it.

Her advice unneeded,

Love unwanted.

She speaks of the cruelty of love;

And her brother, of the beauty of pain.

I don’t need to hear.

All I want to do is fall away,

Ride on the back of a frog.

All I want to see is the great wonder,

Of the Pen and Paper of the god.

All I want to be is everything I need to be but I can’t stop the wind...

Or her brother…

Or their whispers…

Or their lies…

Or their truths…

Or their malice…

Or their love.

So I will let go…submit to the whispers

And fade away into the night.

Author's Note

I wrote this at YWI, and some of the lines are a brain child of fellow writers, but mostly of the first three stanzas...[we did a collective exercise.]
...aaahnyway, critiques?
