The phone rang one day, and I picked it up to see
That Death himself was waiting downstairs for me.
We took a light stroll, through the bright lights of the city,
But our date was cut short, much to our pity.
His duties called to him, to shepherd the dead,
He asked me to come along, but then I filled with dread.
“My time has not yet come,” quickly said I,
“Surely it would be futile to even try?”
He grasped my hand and in arms took me sweetly,
He said: “My dear, you mustn’t act so meekly!”
But still scared was I, despite his reassuring pats;
Suppose he decided to take me, and never let me come back?
He flashed a loving look once more; quite worthy of a star!
And so, gladdened, I took his arm and stepped into his car.
We traveled through time, oh, the places we saw!
We cried and laughed and sang ‘till our eyes were raw.
Lands we crossed, from one world to another.
I even reunited with my dear parents and handsome brother.
How time passed by, I simply did not know;
No worries I had, we simply fell with the flow.
To the end of time, from the beginning of time, and ‘till time was no more,
Death and I held fast, through the stars we would soar.
I cannot express how great was my joy,
I had never felt this way, as if no hindrance I couldn’t destroy!
Finally my time was over, the day had finished,
But even as we walked towards the door my joy was not diminished.
He said to me: “My love, I shall always be here, so I you will never miss!
Keep well, and keep happy!” And he parted me a kiss.
I felt no sadness as I watched him leave to journeys of late,
We would meet again, this was my only true fate.
