Willow

I wrote this a long time ago so yeah

I am exhausted.

My boughs ache

and my trunk is bruised.

I call out

but my cries run from the ears

of any who would have listened,

eloping with the breeze,

deserting me forever.

My tears fall as leaves,

floating away on the gentle wind.

I rest

yet find none.

I sleep

yet get none.

I am exhausted.

You've really captured the feeling of weariness, melancholy and despair with simple yet effective imagery. I don't really have any solid criticism to share here, this is a great piece of poetry as it stands. Great work!

I agree with Briana, this poem is very well written. My favorite line is "...eloping with the breeze..." so beautiful! I too love the metaphor of the tears that fall like leaves. This a very autumnal poem but is also has a sad winter quality too. Great job! :D

This is very well written. I love the metaphor of a tree's tears being leaves. I also like the form, with the line breaks at the end for emphasis! This reminds me of a poem I wrote about a bowed tree I saw once... Although I like yours better. Very beautiful. I'll add this to my favorites :)
