White Flag

White Flag

A Poem by Nessa Aurinko
"

I couldn't sleep one night.

"

Can’t sleep at night,

toss and turn

over Isles of white and linen shores.

Peace of dreams,

so far off.

The circling birds are my only company.

A drifting boat,

on a still sea,

finds no breeze to sail it home.

Raise your white flag high,

let go of your nightmares,

and paddle yourself anywhere but here.

Beautiful piece. I love the smooth flow of the words, and the dichotomous message it sends.

Enjoyed your White Flag, and I like the idea of giving in and paddling to somewhere else.
