Dissonance

Dissonance

A Poem by Nessa Aurinko
"

- Harsh, discordant, and lack of harmony. Also a chord that sounds incomplete until it resolves itself on a harmonious chord.

"

We are nothing more than little black dots confined to a line,

we rise and fall to the beat of someone else's rhythm,

we each get one beat to make it count.

(except those whole notes, sneaky jerks, who says what they have to say is more important?)

Energico! Energico! Yells the conductor,

I want to see you feel it! He says to a duet

that lacks harmony,

and falls flat to the beat of a 4/4 medley.

Assonance versus

Dissonance.

We do both very well.

Poetry versus

Lyrics.

They are pretty much the same, right?

Fermata, he says, we're not there yet, hold this a little longer!

And I held out my hand for you.

but we are nothing more than little black dots on a line,

without a legato slur to connect us together.

So I took everything from you

and you took everything from me,

but still we are little black dots

falling

           off

                 the

                        page

of a movement that deserved a bigger Crescendo.

Gripping magic and metaphors... Your words play out the song of life.. of love.. of loss... and somewhere among the notes there is a building vision of what could have been. Deeply moving.

Great poem!

I see two lonely little notes of music that together make up a song that rattles the earth right down to its core. I love how it's told like a story. It also seems as if the whole piece itself is rising to that crescendo at the end. Beautiful!
