Gasps and Wolf WhistlesA Chapter by .ana.008.Clint really loved his Mom sometimes. He thought as he dried off his hair and pulled his shirt over his head. She was one of the few people in the world that made him feel special, like he wasn’t part of a box set.
He pulled on his pants just as there was a knock at the door.
“Cwint. I has to go potty.” Said a small and innocent voice from outside the door.
Clint laughed before grabbing the handle and pulling it open.
“Cut the crap Charlie.” He said as the small boy ran into the bathroom before he even had a chance to take a step out into the hall. “Just because your six doesn’t mean were going to fall for the cute act. We all know your some sort of super genius.”
“Clint, get out of the bathroom, now.” Said the little boy not smiling a bit “and while I know it’s childish to act in such a manner I needed to use the bathroom. Acting cute gave me a twenty six percent higher chance that you would open the door. So I went for it.”
Clint laughed before Charles slammed the door and disapearerd into the bathroom. He checked his watch; he still had a good half hour until Summer showed up for their weekly trip into the world of Crazy that was the Matthews household.
Clint walked out into the kitchen and over to the microwave and pulled out his waffles which he ate, hot dog less of course as his mother didn’t approve of him and Summer’s eccentric food creations. Clint smiled at the food fight they had just two days prior. It didn’t seem the same now; they seemed like two different people. Although nothing had really changed.
“MOMMMMM” one of Clint’s brothers yelled. “Why does Clint get waffles!” the younger boy pouted his lip at his mother.
“Because Chase” she said “he helps me with the dishes, right Clint”
Clint took the hint and started cleaning off the table and loading the dishes into the dish washer.
“Right mom” he said laughing.
“BOYSS!!!” his mother bellowed raising the attention of every male in the house. “KITCHEN, NOW! YOU TOO CAT!”
Clint smiled, “family meeting” he thought before scraping what was left of his waffles. He wasn’t that hungry, and even though he had been eating he didn’t seem to gain too much weight. He pushed the thought out of his head as his brothers and sister filed into the kitchen.
“Okay” his mother said “here’s a list of chores for today. Colin, you have the garage. That includes in it, around it, and on top of it. Make it sparkle.” She said addressing her eldest son. Who looked at her a moment before saluting with a loud, “AYE AYE MA’AM.”
Mrs. Matthews smiled at her son before moving down the line to her next youngest, “Clint Matthews, why are you still at that sink and not at lineup?” she asked jokingly before continuing. “Clint you and Summer have the back yard.”
“okay mom” Clint replied before continuing to scrape off peoples dishes.
“Chad, Calvin” Mrs. Matthews said
“yes mom” the twins replied.
“you two have your bedroom and the bathroom” she said. Her expression hardened as if she expected an explosion.
“okay mom” Chad said while looking at his brother “come on Cal.”
Clara Matthews looked very confusing before turning to her next youngest child.
“Chase, you have living room and kitchen duty today.” She said to her indifferent teenager.
“whatever” Chase responded before walking lazily towards the living room.
“Cam, Chris, Charlie, your all on kitchen, bedroom and laundry, decide among yourselves who does what.”
Her three youngest boys stared at her a moment before all nodding and running off towards the back bedroom screaming about who had to do the laundry.
“and cat, I want your room clean, and that doesn’t mean I want everything shoved under the bed again. Your fourteen years old young lady that’s old enough to be able to clean.”
Clara smiled at her only daughter before setting out to do her own task for the day, the office. Which had been her daunting task for the past week?
All the Matthews children scrubbed and dusted and folded for what seemed to be forever, but was really only a few moments before there was a soft chime of the doorbell.
“SUMMER!!!!!” Chris yelled as he zipped past Clint to go answer the door followed closely by Cam, Chase and Charles.
Chris almost yanked the door off the hinges before lunging at Summer and almost tackling her to the ground.
Clint and Colin who had followed their youngest siblings out into the front hall followed by the twins and Cat started laughing at the display which occurred almost every week. Apart from the one week that Chris had the chicken pox and Summer had been forced to pounce on him instead.
Summer smiled at the Matthews family looking around at each of them. Noting that the only one missing was the ever elusive Chase, who displayed no emotion at anything let alone her arrival. Finally her eyes fell upon the Matthews child she had wanted to see.
“why hello Clint” Summer said setting Chris down on the floor and approaching her boyfriend.
“ello love.” He responded before leaning down to kiss her softly on the lips.
The room that had been previously filled with laughter went dead silent. If Clint had been focusing on his family rather than his girlfriend he would have noticed the dumbfounded looks on their faces.
The sudden silence was interrupted by a loud wolf whistle by who Clint only imagined could be Colin. He finally pulled back from Summer who had visibly turned at least ten shades darker.
“took you long enough man!” Colin said walking up to him and slapping him on the back “what’s it been? Ten years?” he laughed
“seven” Clint mumbled before pulling Summer by the hand back out the door and into the yard. “now if you would be so kind as to allow us to leave, we have yard work to attend to”
and with that Clint shut the door to his shocked and slightly proud family and pulled his new girlfriend out into the back yard. © 2011 .ana.008.Reviews
