I was afraid to admit it

I was afraid to admit it

A Poem by Vanessa Richardson

I was afraid to admit this. But it true.
I often think of you as my boo.
I think about the times you made me laugh

I admit to myself, this man is my other half.
The chase has been called off.
I surrender to this thing called love.

I think I need a hug.
I think of your smile,
and my heart just goes WILD.
I was afraid to admit this.
But it is true. I pray for you.
I pray for you to understand me. The real me.

I pray that you see me. The real me.
I pray that you appreciate me. That you value me.
That you are dedicated to me. That you crave only me.
Know me. I can be free like the wind.
Know me. I can be strong like the stone.
Know me. I can be as tender as the steak you eat.

I pray for your strength.
Many will try to tempt.
Yet, you think only of me.
Skin the color of pecan.
A man with a solid plan.
I think about you.

In the midst of adversity, you do not fold.
You know God has got it all in control.
I think about you.
I was afraid to admit this.
Now I know truth.
Beloved, I cannot wait to say I do.

I have to concur with David on the grammatical errors that impede the melodic flow. I must say the sincerity of the romancing lead into commitment warms my heart.
Thank you for the truth in love.

A nice confession of commitment, soul searching and finally, surrendering to the inevitable. Quite a lovely poem which makes the reader feel uplifted, and believe once more in that mystery called love.

Just a couple of typo's there, however, which should be attended to.
'The chase have (has) been called off.'
'That your (you're) dedicated to me.'
'I can be tender the way youlike your steak..' (spacing)
'As there (they're) many who will try to tempt.'
'Now I know true.' (truth) - grammar.
