George Washington ( President #1) (1789-1797)

George Washington ( President #1) (1789-1797)

A Chapter by MandaBear
"

First President of the United States of America

"
George Washington was the first president.
At first he was quite hesitant.
His teeth were said to be made of wood.
Could you believe they were made of tusks?

He was the General of the war.
George Washington used to love the British.
At least until they wouldn't promote him up in the ranks.
I guess you could say they said no thanks.

I bet you didn't know that George Washington was a decorator.
He personally watched over the plans of the white house.
George Washington even surveyed the land where the white house was on.
I wonder what he thought of the lawn.

He is known as the father of this country.
Yet, he only took one trip out of this country.
George went to Barbados.
He went to see if he could find a cure of this half brothers tuberculosis.

He was related to Robert E. Lee.
He was even related to the family that founded Calvert County.
George Washington never had a daughter or son.
It was the smallpox and tuberculosis that had won.

I hope you enjoyed learning about our first president.
I am glad he was a US resident.
So here is my ode to George Washington.
The first man to be voted in and won.

I like that you took something that a lot of people would think of as boring and made it fun, even if you didn't exactly meant to. I like history, not learning about the presidents specifically, but I do and I liked learning things I didn't know before. Very nice.

Love your great initiative.
You may check the grammar in following line:
'He was know as the father of this country.'
You may write,'He was known as the father of this country.'
or
'He is known as the father of this country.'
