Herbert Hoover ( President #31) (1929-1933)

Thirty First President of the United States of America

Herbert Hoover is number 31.

It was 1929 Herbert Hoover made his big debut.

He entered into the Great Depression.

People blamed him for causing the Depression.

Herbert Hoover spoke Chinese to his wife to keep there business secret. 

Also they wanted the White House servants to be "invisible" when ever they were around.

The servants had to hide in the nearest closet so the president and first lady didn't see them. (Now why have them at all then if you didn't want to see them seems stupid)

I wonder if they ever said you can come out of the closet now.

Herbert Hoover was the first president to have a phone on his presidential desk.

He was the first president to be a millionaire. (Cha-Ching)

 First president to be born west of the  Mississippi.

He was orphaned by the time he was age 9.

Herbert Hoover in 1931 approved the star spangled banner was our national anthem.

He ran agencies that gave food and clothes to the millions of people of WW1.

He wrote the Children's Charter that protected children no mater the gender or race.

He had the San Francisco Bay Bridge built.

Herbert Hoover liked to fish.  

He liked to eat sweet potato's and marshmallows. (Can you say sugar?)

He had 2 alligators and 4 dogs.

He had many towns named after him. 

This is Herbert Hoover number 31.

He tried to do good even in depressing times.

He died in this 90's only 4 other presidents lived to reach 90.

Maybe just maybe the Hoover Vacuum was named after him because he sucked. (Its really not named after him in case you wondered)

Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover. Three very interesting men. You definitely make the Presidents come alive in these poems.
