Lyndon Johnson (President #36) (1963-1969)

A Chapter by MandaBear
"

Thirty Sixth President of the United States of America

"
Lyndon B Johnson is number 36.
Taking office after John F Kennedy was shot.
He was only two cars away when the shot was fired.
I wonder went through his mind? (I am guessing not a bullet. I know that is bad)

Lyndon B Johnson was described as being raw and boisterous.
He came from a family of ranchers and farmers.
He thought everyone should be equal.
He fought for African American rights and he signed the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Lyndon B Johnson before becoming president was a mechanic.
He was also a high school teacher.
He even had over 30 years of experience in politics.
I guess you could say that he was one smart cookie.

Lyndon B Johnson's favorite motto was "Come now, Let us reason together".
One of his favorite activities was to take visitors on a 90 mph ride around in his Texas  ranch in hi Lincoln Continental. (hmm I wonder if that has anything to do with JFK?)
He signed the Medical Care Act of 1965 which established the Medicare program to provide medical insurance to senior citizens.
He even forged agreements with the Soviet Union regarding the nonproliferation and the use of nuclear weapons.

Lyndon B Johnson was only one for 4 people to serve all 4 federal offices.
He is the second president with the surname of Johnson.
He was the only president to be sworn in by a woman. (Sara Hughes)( Not this mother lol)
His nickname was JBJ.

This is Lyndon B Johnson (JBJ) number 36.
He had some success as president.
He was witness to the shooting of a former president.
He fought for the right of others.

His nickname was LBJ. Other than that, this was a great piece of work about this President. All of these teach me about our Presidents.

This President left a lot of question also. He is a questionable president. A lot of dirty things were done during his time as President. You taught me a few things I didn't know. Thank you fort the description of a good President.
