By the sea

Something I wrote after seeing one of the contests. Thought I would give it a shot! Hope you enjoy!

Sitting on the beach looking out onto the waves

A calming sense washes over with the breeze 

Sand getting everywhere and on me 

Just sitting by the sea

The water fills with people going for a swim

Boats in the far off catching a wave 

On this sweet summer day 

Hear the children laughing and at play

The smell of the ocean in the light wind 

Shells in the sand to numerous to count

Blankets and umbrella flapping in the air

Sun burn from the suns glares 

Just sitting by the sea 

Seeing all the things I can see

People coming and going after a long day

What more is there to say?

Lovely day for a swim by the sea

Cold water hitting your knees 

Salty water in getting in your mouth 

Hair getting wet and loving every minute 

Down by the sea you see many things

Some you wish could be unseen

Knowing you can go home and get clean

Was worth being by the sea

How wonderful ! The sea can be so calm and beautiful - this poem reminds me of the days I've spent with my Dad and we go fishing - and you know what the best part of the trip is ? We never catch any fish ! *Grin*

We just sit and take in the surf, watch the seagulls, watch a family a beach down making a picnic or setting up a camp - and me and Dad ? Well, we just talk, quietly, about anything really, maybe we bring along a sandwich or two and take in the tranquility, and it's wonderful.

Years ago I had hoped when I got to be in my 60s that I could somehow live in a lighthouse. Now that I know how cramped they are I sorta changed my mind since. *Grin*

But yes, it's definitely worth it - being by the sea ...
