A Soul Lost to War

A Soul Lost to War

A Poem by Nicole Williams
"

A poem for a friend who I lost in Afghanistan

"

I cannot fault you for ending the suffering

I hope it has brought you peace

your pure soul guided me through the darkness

your wise words pushed me through the year

I only wish that I could have saved you

that I could have borne your pain

and though you leave us behind

you are never forgotten

if there is anyone more deserving

to be granted into the pearly gates

it's you

and if there truly is a GOD

you are safely in HIS arms

Loss, no matter how inevitable, no matter how frequent, always finds our weakest junctures, our feeblest walls, and sunders without mercy. The further we follow the road of life, the more we must leave behind, and that pain never dulls. A sincerely sorrowful poem, Kora. Well written :)
