Each Others Bad Bargain

Each Others Bad Bargain

A Poem by Nicholas Phillips
"

A short expression of a friendship gone wrong.

"

We were each others bad bargain. So much to gain, yet so much to lose.

Such a strong friendship, risked for romance. Foolishly thinking that “forever” really existed.

We fell in love, at first it was accidental but as time went on we would leave our shoes untied, intending on falling more.

Little did we know that unlike falling in love, which was like falling into a cloud- painless and easy- falling out of love would hurt more than anything.

Falling out of love is like falling from a cloud and hitting the water. We think it’ll be painless, but the pain is excruciating.

We find ourselves unable to stay afloat, drifting deeper and deeper into the unknown.

It’s time to sink or swim, and the blame can only be placed on us. We were each others bad bargain.

Nicholas Phillips
ignore the lack of structure- this was a creative writing warm up for class that my teacher thoroughly enjoyed. She actually cried when reading it.
