Long live rock - a riposte!

Long live rock - a riposte!

A Poem by Nigel Newman
"

Annette Pisano Higley added a wonderful poem to which I penned this response on her page. She's encouraged me to load it in its own right. Happy to oblige. Plaudits to Annette for the inspiration.

"
Macca’s in the Cavern
Elton’s on the john
Nash is in the holly
Freddie’s show goes on

Cilla’s stepped inside love
Sandie’s on the shore
Dusty’s trying anything
Fuller fought the law

Jagger’s feeling faithful
Warwick walks on by
Stevie goes her own way
Tina's mountain's high

Paul says Hello Darkness
Oh for some reprieve
Sadly Glenn’s checked out now
Who said he’d never leave

The straits are feeling dire
Glitter ain’t been freed
Floyd are gigging in the sky
Love is all you need

I was thinking of a modern addendum using rappers but I don't like to call women b*tches or drone on about $$$ or cars or cribs or guns or drugs ...etc...

I think you captured the golden age of rock here Nigel. Well done.

Well, it's brilliant! Your efforts have proven rewarding!
This conjured many pleasant thoughts of the musical kind, and the last line is perfect. I know every generation thinks their music is the best, but that of the 50's, 60's and 70's is hard to beat. Maybe like the Italian renaissance, that era's music was blessed by unknown forces of beauty and inspiration. Great writing, my friend.

Damn, lots of memories here Nigel. I think it might be time to dig out the old vinyl and give it a blast...while wishing I took better care of them as I would now be sitting on a fortune. :)
Thanks for the reminders.
