Emblem of Love

Emblem of Love

A Poem by Diane Fisher
"

A poem inspired by Pearl, from The Scarlet Letter.

"

Red lines across the sky
I feel your tiny hand in mine
The passion of your heart prevails
To make the pain in mine unveiled
Innocent beside the brook
Like a little elf you look
All dressed in red and lacy things
Like my guilt, my heart it stings
Stay with me, my little Pearl
Reveal my love unto the world
Emblem of my guilt and pain
Who knew love left such a stain
Kiss me, now, my precious child
Then I must leave you for a while
