An Aging Wife

An Aging Wife

A Poem by Nolo Segundo

I look at her and I can see
a woman approaching slowly
the land of old age, her
night-black hair invaded by
lonely grey strands, stragglers
of an approaching army:
a relentless force built over
sixty years, stealing bits of her
beauty, loosening her skin,
lightening her bones....

I can now see easily the old woman
she will become, and while I miss
her light-stepping insouciant youth
which pulled both body and heart,
at last I can hear love's secret sound
as she draws my soul ever closer....

Wow! This was so beautiful... I loved the title at the very instant. The emotion potrayed is so beautiful and pure.. Loving each other till death do us part ... Words chosen are perfect and takes reader into a time lapse.

Nolo Segundo - Any heart enraptured by another heart has a vibrant ceaseless rhythm. The body may crumble and fall apart but we hope the Love lives on and transcends time and space. It may end when it reaches Infinity but will still have just enough momentum to vibrate one more step beyond. Any Love so sustained by two hearts unseparated as one is a formidable force to reckon with and historically has been known to collapse kingdoms, topple empires, weaken the strongest of men and women and then amazingly somehow resurrect them from the dead. After half a century of aging together, I'm still raptured in bliss. Hallelujah! Loved your work Nolo. Namyh
