Vapid Deference

Vapid Deference

A Poem by Nadia Zahran

Bare-naked as we stand staring at the erosion of filth
Filthy in my bucket of self-respect
Too intoxicated to be in tact
Is it a fact?
Fact or fiction?
Just share my addiction

Give me the car
I remember that girl that wants to be screwed
Provocatively, she sings of sexual tar
That entices the best of us
Feeling myself contradict her lust
Her organs that wish not to rust
Her panting eludes a panic as skin is smacked
It’s different than the self-resistance you lacked

Bare-naked, we stare
Stare at her magnifying torn hair
Her insides are bare
Opening windows of transcendence
Windows of condescendence
Of elusive flight
I can easily control you
Tell you what’s right
What’s wrong is hidden in your song

As if your body was just too tight
