Infinite

Infinite

A Poem by Nadia Zahran

Sinfully accepting the hate

Broken mirrors of condescendence

Pressing my body down because it’s my fate

Teal skin under severed blood

Bars holding back grinding teeth

As the sea salt in your bed causes a flood

Diseased by your mumbling lips

Toxic to the taste

Intoxicating trips

Molesting your inner being

For these traits kill you

Screeching as your tongue slits and sings

Carving your only white blood cell

You don’t need to speak

It’s your body that you sell

Red sequin waves above my face

Delirious to the sound

Using codeine to explain your case

Violent permanence clips your nails

Cigarette butts burning your skin

Everything we led up to fails

Touching your defiled skin

Gently grazing your vein-less arms

So different from my skin

I can’t see the sin in it

And in that moment

We were infinite
