Time

Time

A Poem by Nadia Zahran

I’m misbehaving as flesh is eaten

Eating my respect for this life

Living in the decay of my race

Racing this fuel obsessed dream

Dreams that conquer misconstrued raps and screams

Screaming as my voice is mute

Mute to your footsteps dripping of time

Mute to the stripes of your face

Freckles enshrouded by my constant need to pace

Pacing myself as I tear

Tearing my insides up

Insides of my apocryphal hate

Hating this timed existence

Time that feeds off my coke stained resistance
