Selectively Sane

Selectively Sane

A Poem by Nadia Zahran

Dazed in the hazy silhouette
And I’m confused
And I’m abused
By misinterpretations of miscomprehended verses
And my verses slur
Slur so sporadically that rhythm in noncompliant with beat

And I beat this drum with miscomprehension and fallacies of misconduct
And I hit
And I hit
And I hit this canvass
This canvass keeps me grounded

Level-headed in all this chaos
Chaotic industries keep me sane
Sanity misrepresented by this chaos
And I am the chaos

Nadia, your writing is so intense and pure, in this poem and others. I must admit it takes me a few reads to digest your words, and I might take away something unintended, but I do enjoy them.

"And I am the chaos" is the knockout punch in this poem. I believe it speaks to all of us. We're all chaos seeking order, if only in our own heads. And, our struggles leak out or pour out, sometimes artfully on paper or a computer screen. Keep writing! I look forward to reading more of your work.
