Forgotten Woman

Forgotten Woman

A Poem by ohsograceful
"

finding happiness

"

I find happiness in forgetting who I am.

I make myself into a shrine

worshiping the woman I want to be,

and put on makeup every morning,

as if beauty can chase away the shadows

in a room made of dark corners

in a world where we

seek pleasure after pleasure

with growing desire

and dwindling satisfaction

Ohso, there is an authenticity in what you wrote and how you presented it. Even the font you chose adds to the “verite” of your writing. The undercurrent of resignation to being someone else in order to be someone gives pause for thought.
Well done.

I think this poem speaks to most of us as woman.
When I’m feeling especially down, I will sometimes spend extra time in an attempt to fix what’s inside , by decorating the outside.
Even when it works, it’s only a temporary repair.
As your poem raeads” Dwindling satisfaction”
Nicely done ✅
