English Version

You can not beat a true Scots man
being drunk and singing his lung out
after 3 am on his way home.

And some old woman shouting out
her bedroom window at him.
To f**k off home to bed.

And him shouting back. F**k off
misses and go f**k your man.

And in the morning when he makes
it home. He finds out the woman
was a neighbour from up the street
from him.
And now she is at his very front
door telling his mother. He was
an complete  arsehole last night
in the street.

Its funny Dawn I was just thinking that you havenae said onything aboot yersel and then I found this poem. Your little tale in the Scots tongue is very funny and seems very familiar. I wasn't too sure about the line 'To pick a windae, yer leavin' hame tae bed' but it might be a local saying. I like writing in scots but I'm not an expert.
Cheers,
Alan

The best part of your poem is the way you offer it in two different "languages"! This is a great way to compare the different ways we use the English language. Even tho your poem seems to suggest that Scottish people act this way, your anecdotal story reminds me of how ALL people "in the old days" weren't so offended by things & such insults were traded more readily, & taken less harshly, as you've vividly shown in your poem (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
