BILLY NO MATES

BILLY NO MATES

A Poem by R J Askew
"

Most of us will meet a sociopath from time to time. Manipulative and intelligent in the lengths they go do to compensate for their deficiences -- which of course are all the fault of others.

"

Logs on looking for a friend,

Knocks out e-mails without end,

There's no ear that he won't bend,

With his plans our world to mend,

Through his branded bible blend,

Loves to argue and offend,

Out there now...hitting SEND.

Still not found that special friend.

How sad, that so many people these days come to depend upon the unreality of Computer friendship, computer romance, computer intimacy (Yes, just read "G Marks The Spot"!) Instead of meeting and interacting with real fleshy creatures. Isolation is the byword of this generation, and I fear that there are a great many Billy (and Billie!)-No-Mates out there
puts me in mind of Paul Simon's song:
"I have my books, and my poetry to protect me/
I am shielded in my armor/
Locked within my room/
Safe within my womb/
I touch no-one, and no-one touches me.../
I am a Rock, I am an Island/
And a Rock feels no pain...And an Island...Ne...ver cries..."

I liked this because of the rhyming and also because of the topic on discussion. It's very sad; I agree with April child, everyone deserves a friend. Great write!

Out there now hitting send LOL. Priceless. Also quite sad, still not found that special friend. Everyone deserves at least one special friend even bible bashing sociopaths. Love your humour and your attention to detail with each line a perfect 7, have to admit I'm surprised you didn't make it 7 lines of 7 :) The rhyme works perfectly.

Wow. I totally love this piece. From the title to the ending, woah. Yes, sociopaths are out in droves. A sad state of affairs. You give it to us in your usual hilarious manner. Love it!
