Apricity

Apricity

A Poem by Nina C Palmer
"

Words Definitions | Apricity (n) the warmth of the sun on a cold winter's day

"

Such a chill swept through the air,

On a cold and wintery night.

That the angels shivered and shook.

Their feathers fell silently to earth,

And blanketed the land with down.

Dawn came and awakened the sun.

Its light revealed the angel's loss,

All that could be seen was white.

The night’s fallen feathers from the sky,

Now shimmered in heavenly light.

They covered the saddened earth,

With an angelic love and grace.

A reverent silence filled the chilled air.

The morning was quiet with awe,

As I walked out onto the white fields.

I reached out to catch the lonely feathers,

That were still falling from grace.

Like a mysterious magic they disappeared

At the very touching of my mortal hand.

Surrounded in the cold of winter,

The heavens parted the cotton sea above.

Light and grace fell upon my chapped face.

I felt the angels kiss my cheeks,

As their warmth fell over my earthly soul.

I love the warmth of the sun on a cold day. How lucky that it has its very own word.

Hmmm what a nice feeling. A bit of contradictions collapsing moments. This cold relates to warmth, The silence is nostalgic yet wonderous the precense of the angelic realm fearless and non - threatening and the human quality at the end is graceful and respectful.
Really encompassing stuff
Thankyou so much Nina

Ummm, yeah, you made the right decision exiting that closet with your work. This poem screams of a greater path. Pursue it boldly! Keep that hunger for better words and beautiful ways to say them. Good luck with the novel.
