ApricityA Poem by Nina C PalmerWords Definitions | Apricity (n) the warmth of the sun on a cold winter's daySuch a chill swept through the air, On a cold and wintery
night. That the angels shivered
and shook. Their feathers fell
silently to earth, And blanketed the land
with down. Dawn came and awakened
the sun. Its light revealed the
angel's loss, All that could be seen
was white. The night’s fallen feathers from the sky, Now shimmered in heavenly
light. They covered the saddened
earth, With an angelic love and grace. A reverent silence filled
the chilled air. The morning was quiet
with awe, As I walked out onto the white
fields. I reached out to catch
the lonely feathers, That were still falling
from grace. Like a mysterious magic
they disappeared At the very touching of
my mortal hand. Surrounded in the cold of
winter, The heavens parted the
cotton sea above. Light and grace fell upon
my chapped face. I felt the angels kiss my
cheeks,
As their warmth fell over
my earthly soul. © 2014 Nina C PalmerAuthor's Note
