Character

Character

A Poem by parker

So many girls are waiting
For a knight in shining armor.
Sitting upon a tall, white horse,
Blue eyes shining
From a handsome face.

I'm not waiting
For a knight in shining armor.
I don't care if it's rusty,
With a dent here and there.

The horse can be a pony
Or a pair of well-worn shoes.
I don't care the manner
As long as it gets him here.

And as long as his eyes are shining
I don't care if they're blue.
The face can have some character,
A long since broken nose,
Maybe a chipped front tooth.

I'm not really waiting
For a knight at all,
Though I doubt I would complain
If one should ride through.
I'd be quite happy with a writer,
A thinker or a laugher.
I'd be quite happy with anyone
Who'd be happy with me.
