a little respite

i really love the concept of strumming a guitar while looking over a beautiful scenery and only being able to cry for your loved one

i sit out on a balcony, overlooking a sparkling river that has carved its way through hills

the guitar in my hands sorrowfully cries

i look up to the sky

a bright, open, free sky that i have never seen before

i feel tears as sparkling as that river gather behind my eyes

i lower my head, letting out a quiet cry

i live in a free world in which my happiness is not certain, but everyone else's is

and i am happy for that, i have given so much for the happiness of others

but there's a dark cloud hanging over my heart, one made of selfishness and greed

i hate to admit it, but i need you by my side

i need to hold you, and i need to see you smiling

and not a fake smile, constructed into a mask that you've hiden behind for years

a real smile, a smile that betrays your supposedly "cold" eyes

i've never looked into your eyes with anything other than admiration and love

i strum my guitar

i will admit this originated from a fanfiction but some thoughts really speak to you and make your chest want to burst and i think thats a wonderful feeling and it makes me worry that no other feeling will be as good but then i remember that moving moments are always coming along

This is very good. It reminded me of my friend, which shows you how touching your poem is. If it can generate memories, it is wonderful. It is nice to have a "hopeless romantic" every once in a while to bring your spirits up. Keep up the good work! You're great at it.

What can I say? It hit close to home for me. I've been a musician since as long as I can remember - so I'm a sucker for any mention of music. There's definitely a certain beauty in playing an instrument and/or singing outside. Or at least that's what I find, personally. Nature and scenery is always a big inspiration to me.

And me, talented? Psssh. You crazy. (But omg, I'm actually really flattered that you think that.)

Well, as of yet you're really the only person I've friended on here so all I see in my news feed is you winning contests and getting reviews, so maybe I'm a little biased :P But regardless you still are really really talented

for me personally i have a sort of love affair with the acoustic guitar (despite the fact that i've been playing piano for four years) and i find the sort of twang it produces to be strangely melancholy. i've heard a lot of really beautiful songs that were quite minimalistic in the sense that it consisted of just singing over a guitar, and they managed to move me a lot, so i tried to tap into that feeling that i get.

Oh, ahaha. (Secret is entering all the contests I possibly can, to be honest.)

Acoustic guitar is beautiful - I dabble. I'm a flute player, but I own a guitar, and as of recently I also own a ukulele, and they're great tools for songwriting, even if I'm not the best at playing them.

I wish I could play piano though. I've tried several times to self teach myself it, but never gotten the hang of it. Then again, I think I'm a bit too ambitious with it, and that I pick pieces that are too hard for me.

And honestly, I get the feeling of a love affair. Almost every musician I've ever met (myself included) always want to play an instrument someone else does, one they don't own. :P

You did a great job of tapping into that feeling, though! In my opinion, anyway.

it's ok, i play piano but i don't really consider myself a musician...i'm not very good compared to people who actually think of themselves as a piano player. if anything, the more important music in my life would be my singing, since i'm in a show choir at school and everything :P i've never won a contest yet, but i'm hoping that i will eventually! i'm more of a writing person than a music person, but i still love the way that music can have an affect on people :D

I'd say anyone who plays an instrument or sings is a musician in their own right - some are just less experienced than others, that's all.

I miss things like show choir, did a bit of that sort of stuff in high school. I reckon if you like to sing and write you should try songwriting, even just for the fun of it. Combines the best of both :)

i have written songs before, actually! mostly just for fun, though, like i've used rough translations of japanese songs and tried to arrange them into translyrics (even though i never did anything with them...). i should try more songwriting, thank you for suggesting it :3
