CHRISTMAS MORNING.

CHRISTMAS MORNING.

A Poem by Peter Rogerson
"

I posted this on Facebook four years ago today and rather like it on re-reading, so here it is reposted for your delectation and delight.

"

We were there that festive dawning,
My spirit child and I,
Waiting for the morning
And its cheery Christmas sky...

We were joined together, singing
A melody or two
Songs with bells a-ringing
For me, my love, for you...

And we hoped together, darling
For love and hope and peace
A songbird to my starling,
A joy that mustn't cease...

And following that dawning,
When skies are winter blue
I'll tell you, without warning
My love for you is true...

It never did need saying,
The words were always there,
Our spirits wildly playing
With the rhythms in the air...
