It's flys and sand. Iraq was like this giant f*****g Sand burm with 80 gazzilion flys buzzing around it with us climbing up one side while Hajji ran off the other after he booby trapped it. Truth be told prior to my unit's first deployment we couldn't wait to get over there and start blowing s**t up but after a while the place wore you into the ground. Good Poem. Thanx

Powerful piece, but never, EVER call a Marine a 'soldier', not to his face at least! Grunt, leatherneck, jarhead...any of these will garner glorious trumpets of 'Ohh-Rah!', and 'Rodger That!' Even warrior...but not soldier. We leave that term for the U.S Army's boys in green, LOL!

Wow, my dad was a marine, he was over there. And people just seem to think that War is like these games that all the teenage boys play. I've heard so many times, "Woah, cool!" or, "Imma do that someday," oh and my favorite, "I can't wait till I'm old enough to go over there and blow someone's head off!" They don't get it, and apparently, you do. Thank you!
