Invisible, Intangible, Belief of Death

Invisible, Intangible, Belief of Death

A Poem by nigrum homonculus
"

i couldn't think of a title for this. but yeah this is about some recent events that have happened in my life and in media.

"

To call reference from god with a bible

Is to call reference from superman with a comic

No difference, no insult.

Opinions will be opinions.

But the armies of religion

Trespass on the shores of free thought.

Controlling a will

While preaching free will.

Contradictions a plenty

It comes thick and fast

kicking and screaming for equality

while denying another's prophecy.

punishing for false heresy

while indulging in disrespectful blasphemy.

sickened by greed that has been on display

but herding followers for unfair gain.

its these preachers

these teachers

who tarnish gods image

not the man who doesn't look at god for guidance.

This reminds me of one of my own poems 'Hope of acceptance', different tone but similar meaning. I refuse to believe in living by the bible because it is full of contradictions and people manipulate it for their own gain. I do believe that there is something greater than us but I dont feel like I have to go to church and breathe religion just to be classified as a believer. Anyways, once again amazing poem.

Dude the first two lines are F**king brilliant! This is one of my faves of yours. Trust me bro, I've seen how far religious fanaticism can go.

"Opinions will be opinions.
But the armies of religion
Trespass on the shores of free thought." -- I love this and agree completely. Some people let religion absolutely consume them and it changes them negatively. But it's the people that do this, that allow the trespassing; not religion itself. IMO. Lovely!

I like this, however, I don't understand these lines, "But the armies of religion trespass on the shores of free thought." are you saying that religion controls some people? If you are, I have to disagree, only because it's my opinion. I respect yours just to be clear, but I do have to say that we choose to be religious. If we don't believe in something, nobody is shoving it down our throats. However I do love the first 2 lines. They are both heros who people believe in. :) well done! You made me think :)

Lol Ohhh ok now I get what you mean! :)
I really love the first two lines of this. It's actually pretty true, when you think about it. They are both just stories in a book, with both characters believed and written to be real.
This is a very well spoken piece of work. I think the title should be:

"Invisible, Intangible, Belief of Death"
