still alive and kicking

still alive and kicking

A Poem by nigrum homonculus
"

first ex. ameena. she did a lot of bad things to me...also my first love.

"

Your cries for help still haunt me

Waking me up as I sleep.

In the dead of night our memories

Creep its way into my dreams.

This heart is still in stitches

And still it leaks blood

All over my white bed sheets

All over my white floor.

But as my life drains away

Everything will still matter

I’m still alive and kicking

Not dead so therefore stronger.

I thank you for your abuse

An applaud you for your torment

If you never were so despicable

I would never be who I am today.

Phillip yorke, Datvirgo

A brother to many

An uncle to 1.

A son to two

But….

A big loss for you.

Haven't been on this for a while... and you've just re-inspired me to get back on the poetry horse haha. Absolutely love the use of colour imagery, creates a really vivid picture in the mind. It's excellent how the words you have used are able to reinact the pain which you felt.

A fine way to spit the eye...
A concise visual of a your experience. Blunt. To the point without a great deal of drama.

thanks man. i really do appreciate your understanding of the poem.
Hi Phil,
I have just discovered your work and I really like this poem.
I love the concept of how you're seeing the positive that comes from your bad experiences, and you're still making the most of life even though you've been hurt. That's awesome.
I also love the ending, it's very powerful and a perfect finish for a great poem!
Thanks for posting!

Hi Phil
long time no speaketh
I think that this poem, which is great by the way.....is virtually there but not quite
the line following,....'our menories' should read, 'creep their way in to my dreams'

do you mean, 'I or and I applaud you?' as opposed to, ' an applaud you'.....

otherwise a really good piece of writing, I've really missed ya on this site, my friend

I love the ending. Christina Aguilera ( back in the day she drove me Out of my mind) did a song called fighter about someone trying to use her and the experience made her all the stronger. Cool video too. Though I preferred the ones that showed more Christina skin.
