Blue is the Warmest Color

Blue is the Warmest Color

A Poem by N.Sevilla

Pale blue lips

Like those secret winter days

When the frost on the windows

Melted under my breath.

I would wait for you,

Wrapped up in faded quilts

With our secrets stitched in,

The colors fading in the winter

Like the tree out front.

You’d come,

Greeting me with frozen lips-

Pale blue lips, yet so warm

Underneath the ice.

They’d leave a trail of growing heat

From lips to neck

And back again.

Yet, they always held

A blue tinge.

Which is why white is cold

And blue is the warmest color.

Even now,

With your lips, pale blue,

Not from the cold,

But from the lack of heat.

Yes, I totally stole the title from the graphic novel/film. 'Twas my inspiration.

Hot stuff under the duvet.
Some lovely contrasts. A great poem.

a great poem to read in the depths of winter. I liked the contrasts between warmth and ice particularly. This scored even higher the second time I read it. straight into the finals. fantastic.
