If my words could flow like yours

If my words could flow like yours

A Poem by N.Sevilla

At pleasure's wake
I stand behind
The cold metal bars
Within my mind.
Calming seas
Soothe me silent.
My lips part
To make waves violent.
With lover's eyes,
I see you.
With all my will
I try to subdue
These desert airs
And jagged rocks,
My clumsy words
Your smile mocks.
Hold me close
And I will flinch.
Wandering hands:
I jump an inch.
Your waves are free
In temptation,
So that I cannot fill
Your starvation.
Beauty and words
Coax my heart
To bring me closer
Within your art.
Luscious words,
Play of the wild,
Remind me that in your eyes
I am a child.

Wow. I really like this. Normally rhyming poetry comes out awkward, with the rhythm and rhyme scheme falling out in places, but I didn't feel that with this. I like the imagery that you likened the speaker's words to. And the shape of the poem almost looked like the image, as though clunky words in varying sizes and lengths were falling from the speaker's mouth. And you had some good diction that really contrasted both the subject matter of the poem and the last line. I can relate with that feeling, the one where you don't seem to measure up to someone you really want to, and that someone looks on you as naive and inexperienced. A very good poem from you. I enjoyed reading it a lot.
