Behind the Wall

After a terrible few weeks of writer's block, I was inspired by the anime, Simoun. Inspiration comes from the strangest places.

Trapped in two rooms, our world's cannot collide.

Here we are sitting side by side

With a wall looming in between,

Washed by our hot tear drops clean.

I think I hear you say I love you,

So I press against the wall on cue

And whisper right back, "I'll be there.

I know this is more than we can bear."

Oh, the wall must be so thin!

I can feel your warmth radiating from within.

If I press a little harder, it'll break.

I'll keep pushing if that's what it takes. 

I want to dance with you and suspend time

And stay in that second when you are only mine.

We will dance to the music only we can hear.

Like ghosts, we'll cling to the memories we hold dear.

I kiss the wall and you do the same.

For a single second, there is no wall to blame.

Just my lips and your lips in this moment when

We know we'll be together again.

Author's Note

I do realize this is a sappy love poem. Of course, if you ever watch Simoun, the last two episodes leave you feeling like part of a mushy love poem. I do hope you enjoy it either way.
