Gazebo Painted Red

Gazebo Painted Red

A Poem by pinksnowboots

Once upon a time
a little girl
was allowed to paint
the gazebo in the yard.

She had a vision
of a magical hideaway
color of flame,
her
Gazebo Painted Red

She can remember,
her early childhood,
laughing, playing
in her
Gazebo Painted Red

She made up stories
of Jamaican Princesses
with her best friends
in her
Gazebo Painted Red

They had our girl talk
of boys and our crushes
makeup and secrets
in her
Gazebo Painted Red

Awkward fist kisses
the exhilaration
of her first puppy love
in her
Gazebo Painted Red

As she grew older
a fine young woman
who was proposed to
in her
Gazebo Painted Red

A happy marriage
a man and woman
with the reception
in a
Gazebo Painted Red

She starts a new life
in her own home
but she always returns to
her
Gazebo Painted Red

One woman's lifetime
full of memories
all are held
in a
Gazebo Painted Red.
