Wishing Me Wild

Wishing Me Wild

A Poem by Scott H.
"

People used to think that the moon was the cause of madness, hence "lunacy." I tend to agree.

"

“Wishing Me Wild”

The Moon is like a drug
Wishing me wild tonight -
I inhale the wisps of moonbeams,
Let them settle in my bloodstream,
Fill me up with lunacy until it
Pours out from my unveiled eyes
So I may see where secrets hide.

The Moon is like a map
Wishing me wild places like
The fathomless black sea,
The pulsing undercurrent of the city
That charges you like lightning,
The rain-swept Cornish coastline or
Just face-first into his mattress.

Good piece. I like your wording in this. By the way, in case you didn't know, there is some evidence that suggest the moon does affect "lunacy" similiar to the way it affects the tides. My father (a policeman) also tells me that during the full moon they tend to get more disturbance calls than at other times of the month.
