Whatever Gets Us Through the Night

Whatever Gets Us Through the Night

A Poem by Scott H.
"

We all have something we cling to

"

"Whatever Gets Us Through the Night"

We all have something we cling to called

Whatever gets us through the night.

For some that just might be a lover,

Familiar arms holding them tight.

For a child it might be a faint light

Which drives all the monsters away.

Some people are haunted by demons

With nothing to keep them at bay.

There are those who turn to the bottle,

In drugs they may choose to delight.

It might be the thrill of the excess,

It might be the thrill of the fight.

In my time I have turned to such things

To help pass the long hours of dark

Some have been helpful and soothing,

Of some you can still see their mark.

We all have our personal favourites

Whether or not they are wrong or are right.

We all have something we cling to called

Whatever gets us through the night.

This poem is AWESOME. It's a great subject to write about, and it is definately something wonderful to think about.
