Over and Above

Over and Above

A Poem by Scott H.
"

I can see the lights in the distance Trembling in the dark cloak of night Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing A waltz on All Souls Night

"

“Over and Above”

This night over and above

All others

I cannot wait for nightfall

When the moon will crest

The all souls sky and

Unleash the pent-up magic,

Lift the veil that separates

My world from the one

That calls me always.

I will go to the patient river and

Light my lantern,

Watch as the current carries

It underneath the moonlight,

Illuminating the souls who’ve

Crossed into this seeming.

They call me to the bank’s edge

With songs tinged with magic

And sorrowful leaving,

Arms outstretched I join them in

Their waltzing on the waves

Back o’er their country’s threshold,

Dancing over and above this world

Into the next.
