The White Lady of Pine Ridge

An urban legend

“The White Lady of Pine Ridge”

On a bleak and dismal winter's night

Along the road to town

A carriage stopped amidst the snow

Its wheel had broken down

A lady waited by pine ridge

Her fiance gone for aide

This lady wore a mantle white

'Twas to be her wedding day

Her false love came back not with help

But with a musket red

He put the carriage right again

As in the snow she bled

Now on a bleak and dismal winter night

If you should drive from town

Beware the bend before pine ridge

If the snow is tumbling down

They say that she still wanders there

In her haunting mantle white

To cause unfaithful lovers harm

Return their spirits to the night

So do not take the road past town

Instead cross o'er the bridge

Lest you should have a meeting with

The white lady of pine ridge

Sounds like a spooky urban legend, to see a ghost wandering along the roadside. Lots of people say they've seen ghosts like this. Gives me chills just thinking about it.

I love folklore and legends like this. If I was a teen again and looking for a place to park with my girl, you can bet I'd stay away from that bend before Pine Ridge. I'll bet the townsfolk would enjoy this one.
