Cotton and the Cadaver

Cotton and the Cadaver

A Poem by Rc R. Vagilidad
"

In the hospital: A green sterile shroud to cover the dead bodies (termed as "mortis"). It is made of cotton.

"
It bloomed yesterday
to a vibrant display
of white and lulling

and the whisper of silence
resonates the foreboding

On fertile soil it grew
like weeds of blue
sprung like winter leaves

The harvest came,
a cushion of white
burgeon one summer rain

They threaded its wonder
to a shroud of fake green
and stained the cotton white
of what it is now unseen

it is called a sterile shroud
Wrapping the "mortis"
who once had sinned.

Strange little piece...flawlessly written with poetic verse that flows. Sort of sad that pure white cotton in all of its beauty now covers death and sin. Interesting poem with a strong ending.
