Bury My Memory

Bury My Memory

A Poem by poet2angels (lynda)
"

inspired by "Hate me" by Blue October and a bad memory

"

I cannot play that song again; It echoes in my brain
flowing with the melody is many months of pain,
reminding me of all the lies and everything you did
exposing the other side of you in the mannequin you hid.
As the bleeding in my heart subsides, even you, I cannot hate
as I step over traps you set attempting to lure me in with bait...

Bury my memory today
bring it flowers tomorrow.
Let me go, so I can finally live my life.

I walk through broken glass today from one more moment of rage,
when I shattered every piece of you from your soul I disengage,
Ripping up every shred of memory that could possibly remain,
and suddenly I felt a sigh rush through me, releasing all my pain,
deciding that not one more tear for you will I ever cry,
so it is with a smile and two choice words, I choose to say goodbye.

Bury my memory today,
bring it flowers tomorrow .
Let me go so I can finally live my life.
Bury it deep
inside of your past
so that you can finally live your life.

I can finally see your shadow, and I no longer cry,
see the graffiti on the wall,  just shake my head and sigh.
I learned that your insults were to destroy my self respect.
I've taken all the hurt you caused, and all of the neglect
tied it in a bow around a piece of my heart that died,
so I don't have the poisonous part of you inside...

Bury my memory today,
bring it flowers tomorrow .
Let me go so I can finally live my life.

I don't remember ever reading such a raw, heart rending piece of poetry from you. You always capture emotions so well but this is by far the darkest and most deeply moving pieces. Bury the memory of such pain is a great turn of phrase for moving on to a new phase of life, while not denying the past it allows one to focus on the here and now of reality's grip. amazing poem my sweet cuz.

OH, I am sorry for all this pain that has found a place in you; still I rejoice your eviction and celebrate to fill the vacancy with flowers.

your words as always flow beautifully.

this is so powerful, emotional & raw. i love it. the flow is smooth & silky. i love the lines "Bury my memory today, bring it flowers tomorrow . Let me go so I can finally live my life. Bury it deep inside of your past
so that you can finally live your life." the imagery you've described here is darkly beautiful. & so many can relate. there is always someone in our past we've had to bury. beautifully written.

Hammer driving nail stuff. I likes it I does. I forgot your msg about sending me a rant when I was looking throuth the my reading requests... The title jumped out at me. I like verbs in titles and in first lines, or as in this case, in refrains. 'Bury' is just a very strong, emotive word. I can see a woman venting this poem with a quiet, determined dignity. I know that not everyone has a taste for Metallica, but some of their stuff is actually quite moving as well as noisy and your poem here reminds me of some of their less aggressive lyrics. 'The mannequin you hid' is a winning judo throw! As is 'The poinsonous part of you'. Nice one!
p.s. forgot to say this is also such a total contrast in theme to your entirely positive and delightful blossom type poems, the ones I first read. It shows you can turn your hand to different moods with skill, though I dare say you might have preferred the 'bad memory' inspiration behind this one. Still, you got a cracking poem out of it.

Wow,
This is just my style of poetry. It is a song about moving on, and you wrote it without abstract, double meanings that cause the reader to wonder what you meant. Perfect rhyme, and rhythm, filled with real feelings. I loved it. Rain..

"Bury my memory today, bring it flowers tomorrow". That pair of lines in particular gave me shivers. Much of this speaks of pain and also the need to heal, sometimes almost impossible without a purge, which this write asks for succinctly. Excellent write my friend. ~Jim
