Destination Unknow

Destination Unknow

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

Music is blaring
Cranked to the max
High beams gleaming
Illuminating the road

Wind whips through the windows
Tangling long dark locks
Green eyes focused
Emotions, not so much

Midnight drive
Destination unknown
Windows rolled down
Wind, tangled hair

Back roads are quiet
No vehicles in sight
Dry payment twisting
Around a ninety degree bend

Social Distortion screaming
Volume cranked loud
Speakers continually beating
Memories come flooding back

The lyrics strike the heart
"Felt so alone, insecure "
The song penetrate within
Heart beat moving in reverse

Midnight drive
Destination unknown
Windows rolled down
Wind tangled hair

It's gonna be a long night
What was a midnight drive
Turned into 1,200 mile trip
With "I Was Wrong" for a copilot

Loved both the imagery and the feeling of freedom, getting away from a troubled situation. A midnight drive, wind in the hair, music cranked up. I agree with many others here, your lines are good song lyrics. I enjoyed the ride. I went with you.

No matter the speed, you can't outrun regret.
Luckily, all the roads here are bendy, twisty nightmares that don't allow anything above 20, and by that time regret has got bored and overtaken me so far it usually disappears beyond the horizon. Although i think it may circumnavigate the globe, because it always appears back in the rearview when stuck in traffic 😀

Freedom. At times, a road trip is all that will allow the soul to be free. I feel the wind in My hair as I hang from your your rearview mirror.

Gee
If you drove half of that distance from my home you'd drown !!!
Could imagine this as lyrics for a song. As Annette said some wonderful lines.

Yes they do.
Reminds me of a "Rancid" song... 'Ruby So Ho' I thinks it was called.

I've listened to a few rancid songs but not that one. Shall have to look it up.

It's one of their best I think.
Great musicality in this poem- could be a great song! "Midnight Drive..Destination unknown...With "I Was Wrong" for a copilot"- awesome lines. A roller-coaster ride to nowhere with "wind-tangled hair flowing"-dynamic movement, imagery, rhythm. Loved it!

Sometimes our heart guides us to where we need to go.
The descriptions in this poem are really what made it. The way you described driving down the roads at night can pull a memory, good or bad, from all of us. Great job with this and I thought every stanza was enjoyable!

Thank you. I think it is a poem everyone can relate to.
Living life one mile, one highway, one journey at a time...Not knowing what comes next is the magic. Great conclusion. Great Poem. Loved it.
