A Poem by Clarisse Nanoit

 No promises

Even with that thought running through my head,

none of this is really any easier.

 No promises

A phrase from so far (not so far?) back

that I’m attempting to convince myself was real,

tangible.

 No promises

With that in mind, I hand you over to her…

the one we once mocked as a simpleton.

If she makes you happy, I promise to let it be,

even if it rips my own heart into a thousand tiny pieces.

 No promises

I fully intend to stay your friend and never expect more.

No promises

No promises

No promises

No promises

No promises

this hit right home...the usage of repetition was perfect and then some! of course the last two lines really delivered the final unexpected blow...great job!
