Masks

Masks

A Poem by Emily Dickinson Jr.
"

This is a poem about being afraid to show the world your true self READ PLZ!

"

We go day by day

Hiding who we are

Wondering when the mask

Comes off

Will we go far

Will our friends still love us

Will they hate us so

But since we'll never

Take it off

We'll never know

When it comes off

Will you see the tears

The broken body hidden

In those eyes

Will you see the fetal baby

Curled up inside

Will you see the me I don't

Want you to

That has no place to hide

Just how much torture

Will a mask hide?

You'll be suprised

The smiles, lauphs

All the cheers

They can hide wounds

They can hide tears

They hide all our fears

They won't give out opinions

And they'll never betray

So of course you must agree

The mask must stay

And not just for me

For you to

Cause hey

You wouldn't forgive me

If you knew how I was

There isn't anything I can do

Because you'd hate me

If you found out

I'm nothing like you

True story. I definitely know where you're coming from with this. Unfortunately thats just the way the cookie crumbles with this. This mask we hide behind is like our comfort zone. The shadows you can use to hide yourself from society. Excellent work Emily :)
