Notre histoire ne date pas d'hier (Our history isn't from yesterday)

Notre histoire ne date pas d'hier (Our history isn't from yesterday)

A Poem by Dandelion
"

In the honour of the national Acadian festival, showing my pride and happiness to be a French speaking Acadian.

"

Alors viens-ten danser, bouge!

Our History isn't from Yesterday (English version)

Our history isn't from yesterday
Acadians from a meadow called Grand-Pré
This is where our story was born
Rocked by the soft waves of the sea
It was a small community indeed
But also friends, proud and united
Occasionally accompanied by autochthonous chants
And by the refreshing wind of Autumn

Flags of bloody wars
Screams, fires and deportations
Created shipwrecks and separations
Acadia, teared of her own people
The French of our tongues, influenced
These people that already had enough
But with hope, they swore:
"We will come back to Acadia"

The colors of blue, yellow, white and red
Showed everywhere to celebrate
1755 is now over
So come with me and dance!
And in proudness, joy and liberty
We are united once more
The melodies of the violin takes place in our hearts
Because our history isn't from yesterday
