system

A Poem by prisley machiya
"

Explains the effects of modern day government systems in the eyes of an African male and the people around but it is able to connect to different societies and people .

"

Countless deeds

Countless souls

The skin ,the gold and the oil

Measurements of victory all man made

Still the cycle never stop birth to decay

A note for every move birth of all cruelty

The nature bottled and sold

Lies preserved ,printed

history.

The visions of the blind

the scars that were never televised

Old generations ,Old knowledge

untaught.

The taste in my plate modified

Skin on my skin not the skin they used to wear

Loud cries i want to be noticed

but how can they notice me if i do not look like myself

Born with the creation all the wilderness

Among remedies of all pestilences

My past was not meant to be written

It flows with the totem offspring to offspring

No-longer the owner of the wilderness

Stories of how mistreated i have been

Theories of how equal i am

Murderers, thieves and the spiritual

Our maize we could still grow but our fields are no longer our fields.

A wonderful well written piece of poetry which really touched me.
The eloquence and depth to this made me think about how little or unimportant it seems we are in the grand scheme of things.
I can hear the rumble of thunder from a million unheard souls who wish to speak for the long dead.

“Taste in my plate modified”

That is a very apt commentary.
