Life is a Song

Life is a song.

Sometimes it's short, sometimes it's long.

Sometimes it's slow, sometimes it's fast.

The trick, my friend, is to make it last.

It plays upon the times we've had.

Sometimes it's happy, sometimes it's sad.

There are days when it lifts you up.

It pours you out and fills your cup.

There are days when it drags you down.

It turns your smile into a frown.

Today is new, so what will you play?

Do you want to go, or do you want to stay?

The song we played, it makes me dance.

So do you want to take a chance?

Tomorrow's song, it could bring strife.

Should it win, and ruin my life?

It could be sweet and touch your heart.

 Perhaps this song will never part.

The notes, they touch me deeply inside.

They play me out; have never lied.

So don't be afraid to let it play.

Tomorrow is another day.

With our songs, we're never bored.

So grab the strings and play a chord.

You never know whose life you'll touch.

So play it hard and play it much.

Grab a stick and beat a drum.

Keep on playing until you're done.

Be rock steady and keep the beat.

You never know just who you'll meet.

Use your voice and sing a note.

Let life flow within your throat.

Play your song like the finest wine.

I'll see you at the finish line ...

Lovely, and inspiring to say the least. I almost grabbed my guitar, then remembered... I sold it, but hey. Inspiring to live, and to literally play an instrument. At my first read the first two lines seemed to be a bit jumpy, but I figured it's just my eyes. lol.

This is a really good poem, I cannot actually get over it. It speaks purely to the soul and sings the song of the heart. It's as if your poem is trying to give people the courage to be their own song, to make something beautiful every day.
I think this is my favourite poem on this website that I have seen so far.
It is truely beautiful.

I love music as well. I think poetry and music are a perfect way to blend an art form. Poetry pairs well with paintings, photos, sculpture, comedy, and even architecture at times.
Very well done here.

One small note to take or leave.
Third stanza last two lines, they trip me up a little. It might help to take out one syllable per line. Maybe try this, "The notes, they touch me deep inside, they play me out; have never lied".
