Gravity Sucks

Gravity Sucks

My life isn't a TV show or a commercial.
Don't bombard me with how I should live it.
Don't even try to change my channel with your remote.
I'm not a file.
Don't stick me in your cabinet.
Do not come near me with your cookie cutter.
I don't have to fit someone else's mold.
Don't have to wear what's been laid out for me.
I'll walk on my damned hands if I want to.
Flip your table upside down.
Napkins and all.
I'll spit nickels when I give you your change at life's carnival.
Come on.
Screw it.
Enough with this gloom and doom.
... Let's go collect some rocks on the moon ...

WOW! This is a departure from your usual smooth rides! So much attitude, my friend! It’s delightful and I love the way you find a dozen different ways to say you’re an individual. Yes you are! Believe me, there’s nobody doing it like you do! *wink! wink!* To me, this is the best core belief to have, in order to be a good writer. I get so tired of reading a similar stream of pleasantries about love & heartbreak most of the time. I love seeing something that kinda snaps my head around & your rant does just that in a sassy & tongue-in-cheek way. This is the main reason I live way off the grid, bordering on wilderness . . . and why I ignored people who said I shouldn’t do two years of physical therapy out here on a rocky dirt road with nobody around to catch me if I fall (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Live your life the way you want too, don't follow the crowd. I love your reference to cookie cutters. Who wants to be cloned? Long live uniqueness. A nice little rant here, which I actually found to be refreshing as well as uplifting. I also really appreciated Thoreau's quote in your author notes. Way to go.

Well writ Pete.

there is a thin line between fantasy and reality. but sometimes people expect too much that we don't know where fantasy ends and reality begins.

you are welcome pete
Nothing can weigh us down in life more than other people's expectations for us, if we allow them. That message is beautifully translated here :)
