I Want What They Have

I Want What They Have

I went walking in the park this morning following last night's storm.
Alone in myself.
Consumed by my troubles.
A family of robins suddenly happened to land nearby, seemingly out of nowhere.
The rain had washed a buffet of bugs and worms to the surface.
The birds rejoiced in their unexpected, newfound wealth.
Hopping about like giggling children at school recess.
Chirping in harmony like a glee club.
No worries.
No cares.
They knew not from whence it came.
Only that they had a legitimate claim.
They were alive and free.
Like you and me.
It mattered not.
It was paid for and bought.
As it full well ought.
Like a soothing, healing salve ...
... I want what they have ...
