Do or Die

Do or Die

A Poem by Pete
"

What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us. - Thoreau

Image result for standing on a cliff edge

Alone.
Like a tightrope dancer.
Waiting for an answer.
My tears long since dry like the Ghobi.
I stand on life's lustful cliff.
Storm clouds gather over my head.
Ushering in a most unwelcomed dread.
My spit hits an ocean of oblivion.
I watch intently to see where it goes.
No one knows.
The release quells for an instant but is quickly nullified by the potent, flagellating sea.
Owning me.
I scream curses into a bifurcated canyon.
Even Hell's vernacular offers no reprieve.
On this destiny's eve.
The echo is hopeful but fleeting.
Self-defeating.
There is no direction or answer.
They both disappear and I grow weary.
But I know I'll be back.
Back again to try.
Do or die ...
