Ode to the donkey

You walk around
with you're head down
Staring at the ground
with those big sad eyes
So tired of being compared
with the elegant horse
So sick of being underappreciated
Silently you bare the burdens
and listen to people making fun of you
Yet they get mad when you're being stubborn
But don´t cry any longer donkey
because some of us have seen you're value

the word 'no' should be 'any' or leave out the word 'don't' ==== But that aside.. I love the idea you tackled... I feel very much the donkey sometimes... funny though.. people who think themselves horses are usually much worse than donkeys and no where near has good looking either. It's a great poem I like it

Don't think there was much "bad English" in here at all to mind. The donkey is certainly an animal worthy of an ode and could easily be a metaphor for the everyday person who does the bulk of work in society but doesn't get viewed as nicely as those who do the "elegant" work (as you call the horse). Well done.

Donkeys have been used to carry burdens for man in a variety of tasks. They have been used on farms, mines and even at war. It was a donkey that carried Jesus into Jerusalem as He was hailed as a King with palms spread before his path. God elevates the humble.
